The bestselling new cars in Britain
Mon, 07 Oct 2013September is the biggest month of the year for new car sales in Britain: car manufacturers say it’s the most important month to get right and a good September performance is thus something of a bellwether test.
The UK trade body the SMMT has just released new car registration data for September 2013, which enables us to get a picture of the state of the nation’s new car sales. And the news remains glowing.
No less than 403,136 new cars were registered in September 2013, a rise of 12.1% on last year. This made it the biggest single month for car sales since March 2008! "The UK market is reflecting growing economic confidence," said SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes.
"This is the 19th consecutive month of steady growth and, with fleet and business demand still to reach pre-recession levels, we believe the performance to be sustainable. The latest 63-plate should deliver positive results into next year."
But which were the star performers in this thriving market? Read on to discover which are Britain’s favourite new cars so far this year…
