The biggest James Bond car exhibition…in the world!
Sun, 14 Aug 2011James Bond Car Exhibition 2012
Nothing has defined the James Bond franchise – the film franchise, that is – in quite the same way as its cars. So what better way than to have the biggest James Bond car exhibition – in the world – to celebrate fifty years of James Bond films?
That’s exactly what is being planned by the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and EON Productions (they of the James Bond films), who plan to exhibit more James Bond cars in one place than ever before – and for the whole of 2012.
The whole exhibition was announced at the Empire presents BIG SCREEN (which is at the O2 Arena – or Millenium Dome, to the cynical) and EON brought along the Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace, Jaguar XKR with SFX weapons from Die Another Day (but not the Vanquish), 1964 Aston Martin DB5 from Goldeneye (but not the Fezza) and the the 1937 Phantom lll Rolls-Royce from Goldfinger (but not the DB5).
These are just some of the 50 cars EON & Beaulieu say will be on view from January to December 2012 at the National Motor Museum, although they don’t tell us what else will.
Will we get to see stuff like the original DB5 from Goldfinger (BMT 216A, for the anoraks amongst you, rather than BMT 214A used in Goldeneye), the underwater Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me or even the oft forgotten Toyota 2000 GT from You Only Live Twice?
We’ve no idea as EON and Beaulieu aren’t letting on – perhaps because they’re still working on it. But with fifty Bond cars on show there’s a chance that at least more than a handful are going to be star cars and not just those in supporting roles.
Something to look forward to for every petrolhead and Bond addict. And there’s plenty of those.
