The future for Renault in F1 in 2011 and beyond

Renault today announces its new sporting division, Renault SportF1. Renault SportF1 will monopolise 25% of the grid by supply three teams engines and technology for 2011.

Renault Sport F1 was formed after Renault decided to sell its minority stake in the Renault F1 team to Genii Capita who they will continue to provide technical and engineering expertise to. The new partnership between Lotus and Genii Capital will see a more comprehensive strategic alliance bringing new technologies to Lotus road going cars including hybrid technology, Kinetic energey recovery system, aero advancements and lightweight materials.  

Already winning nine constructors champion titles, with Red Bull Racing and securing 23 podium finishes in 2010. Renault SportF1 will now supply engines and technological support to Lotus and Malaysia Racing Team (UK). Red Bull Racing have extended their current deal with Renault for a further two years after the success of the last four seasons. Lotus racing will adopt the Renault name to form the Lotus Renault GP. 

As well as supplying engines Renault SportF1 will be offering engineering programmes in areas such as transmissions and KERS and investing in a new lab for developing combustion and electric powertrains technologies.
