This is the next Ferrari California T

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

Ferrari revealed the California T on Wednesday, its next-generation front-engine convertible, prior to March's Geneva motor show debut. The company teased the vehicle last week.

Details are scarce right now, but Ferrari says the T again has a retractable hardtop (it lowers in 14 seconds), boasts a new turbocharged V8 making 552 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque—Ferrari hasn't had a turbocharged production car since the legendary F40.

The company also says the T has a torque curve that increases constantly across the rev range. In other words, no turbo lag. Fuel consumption is cut 15 percent, according to Ferrari, and the car should hit 60 mph in less than 3.6 seconds. Top speed is 196 mph!

As predicted, the front end takes styling from the F12 Berlinetta, while the fenders have the classic 250 Testa Rossa's pontoon styling.

The car has the latest-generation MagneRide; Ferrari says it's 50 percent faster, reducing body roll and pitch. Ferrari also says the ceramic brakes and ABS make 62 mph to 0 happen in just 111 feet.

We'll find out more leading up to next month's Geneva motor show.
