Top Gear Isle of Man Postage Stamps

Until recent years, the Isle of Man was best known as a sleepy little island off the Lancashire coast with an annual TT race and low tax. But Top Gear changed all that.

Not only has Top Gear shown the middle of the Isle of Man in all its misty beauty, it’s also shown the world that the Isle of Man can be a petrolhead’s delight, with no speed limits on the Mountain Road.

Not only has Top Gear made the Isle of Man more famous in a few years than the TT has in a century, Jeremy Clarkson even has a house there.

But then he would. Francie Clarkson – Jezza’s wife (still, we think!) – is an Isle of Man girl and the couple own an old converted lighthouse on the Isle of Man coast. Perfect for the odd blat across the Mountain Road and a perfect place to keep income that doesn’t need to be drawn down. Not that Jeremy would consider such a thing.

And now the Isle of Man has decided to give something back to Top Gear, with a set of commemorative Postage Stamps depicting some of Top Gear’s adventures.

Each of the set of six stamps has a photo from one of Top Gear’s best special episodes. They are:

Sadly, there’s no stamp showing Jeremy’s Isle of Man house or the path across his land he wanted to stop walkers using.
