Top Gear tonight: Saab, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, Mercedes C63 Black & SIARPC Matt Smith
Sun, 26 Feb 2012Top Gear - Jeremy pits Mercedes against Maserati
Top Gear tonight with Richard in a Skoda Rally car racing a flying man, a look back at Saab, Jeremy on track with the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale and Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series. Star in a reasonably priced car is Doctor Who – Matt Smith.
Before we know it the latest series of Top Gear will have come and gone. It feels like it’s just back and we’re already at episode 5 of series 18 – just two to go.
Tonight’s Top Gear looks a busy little episode. James and Jeremy are taking a look back at Saab now it’s on its death bed waiting for a Lazarus-like revival. The question is, why do Architects like cars? Don’t be surprised if the response isn’t exactly enlightening.
Jeremy gets to play on track with a couple of tyre shredders in the guise of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. Lots of smoke and lots of power – Jeremy compares the yellow C63 AMG Black to Winnie the Poo with road rage – and doubtless a conclusion which makes little sense.
Richard is off in a Skoda Rally car to take on a man in a rocket-powered flying suit. We don’t think they’ve let Hammond drive the Skoda, but have roped in someone who can.
Finally we get current Doctor Who, Matt Smith, as this week’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car (SIARPC). Will he better the times set by the previous two Doctors – David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston - who have both been Top Gear SIARPC?
Oh, and keep an eye out for Jeremy letting the cat out of the bag early on the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible. Top Gear is filmed on Wednesday night and the Evoque Convertible wasn’t revealed until Friday afternoon. But if you know that, you’ll know why Jeremy has a pair of scissors.
Top Gear Series 18 Episode 5 is on BBC2 at 8pm (UK) tonight.
