Top Gear: Electric Car Test, Lamborghini Aventador, Bowler and Louis Walsh
Sat, 30 Jul 2011Last in the series - Hammond plays with the Bowler again
Here we are at the very last episode of series 17 of Top Gear already. Doesn’t time just fly?
The set piece for this last show is Jeremy and James going out to play in the electric Nissan LEAF and Peugeot iOn. We covered some of their antics earlier this year when they were filming in Lincoln (and with locals shouting ‘fix’) and that coverage also spawned a spoof video of the EV jaunt, which was quite amusing.
On track we get Richard and the new Lambo – the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Fortunately it’s dry so we should get to see just how close the Aventador comes to the hypercars on the leader board, at less than a third their price. Our money’s on very close indeed.
Richard goes off to play with a rally team whose members are all ex-military amputees. As far as we can see some of the footage includes Hammond in a Bowler. We trust he doesn’t still think of himself as a ‘Driving God’.
Star in a reasonably priced car this week is Louis Walsh who we guess won’t be troubling the top of the leader board too much. Oh, and the Lotus T125 – the wealthy man’s F1 track day car – is back to set a lap now it’s dry. Not that a lap in the T125 will count because it’s not a road car. Still, interesting to see just how quick it is.
And that’s a wrap for Series 17, with episode 6 at the usual time – 8pm Sunday 31st August.
