Toyota FT-Bh concept (2012) the first teaser sketch
Fri, 10 Feb 2012
This is the Toyota FT-Bh show car. Or rather, it’s a sketch of the Toyota FT-Bh, and our first glimpse of a new affordable city car concept that will be unveiled for the first time at the 2012 Geneva motor show in March.
Ah, the tried-and-tested PR tease. So what little information has Toyota released about the FT-Bh concept car?Very little. But the FT-Bh isn’t just a concept car, according to Toyota, but a ‘total vehicle approach’ that’s designed to ‘achieve low emissions within an economically viable production framework’. That means the FT-Bh is an ultra-lightweight hybrid, but Toyota has engineered it to be built without expensive materials and complex manufacturing methods.
Hello! Wakey wakey. Don’t switch off just yet. We’ll admit it doesn’t sound like the most exciting car (especially when the really exciting GT 86 will be making its European show debut on the same stand) but if Toyota’s most recent raft on concepts are anything to go by the FT-Bh should look pretty good.
In fact, Toyota’s most recent concepts will also be in Geneva, including the Mk4 Prius-previewing NS4, and the cool FCV-R which goes on sale as a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in 2015. Plus there’s the Diji (previouklsy known as the Fun-Vii) and the new Toyota Yaris Hybrid, which promises CO2 emissions of 80g/km.
