Toyota Prius V
Tue, 11 Jan 2011Toyota is keen to expand the Prius brand. The company will introduce a multitude of variants in the coming years and the Prius V, unveiled at the 2011 NAIAS, is the first expansion to the family.
Retaining the familiar Prius features, the V simply sharpens up elements over the existing sedan. A revised, sharper front bumper tightens the lines, while the silhouette remains relatively unchanged, despite the clear visual differences between the two cars. The four-light DLO, which extends into the front fender, also remains, as does the headlight and grille layout, which makes for a familiar DRG. Around the rear, the new wagon's haunch results in a new tailgate and rear light set up. The rear bumper sports similar tight lines to the front whilst featuring new, upright fog lights.
Inside, the IP from the Prius DNA is easily recognizable. The central binnacle and symmetrical layout of the sedan model remain, with the main focal point being around the Toyota's 'entune' infotainment system. The system, which occupies space in the piano black section of the IP, combines an improved navigation system, a richer user interface, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. The 'driving section' of the car's IP, taking in a start button, parking brake and driving mode selector, are all set in the interspersing silver section of the IP.
