Toyota recalls 2011 Tundras for drive-shaft safety issue
Tue, 26 Apr 2011
Toyota is voluntarily recalling about 51,000 copies of the 2011 Tundra pickup to screen for a rear drive-shaft issue. Improper metal casting could cause part of the shaft to break, Toyota said.
So far, Toyota is aware of one such occurrence in a customer-owned vehicle. There are no reports of accidents or injuries resulting from the issue.
Owners of the Tundras involved in the recall will be notified via mail starting in May.
Toyota dealers will inspect the rear drive shaft for a specific production-lot number to determine whether a replacement shaft is needed. This process will take about 10 minutes. Inspections and replacements will be performed free of charge.
