Updated 2014 Volkswagen Polo prices confirmed
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Volkswagen has confirmed its new 2014 Polo supermini will go on sale in the UK on 23 April 2014, with prices starting from £11,100 for the entry-level 60hp 1.0-litre S variant.
Prices rise to £19,715 for the range-topping five-door Polo Blue GT model fitted with VW’s 150hp 1.4-litre TSI petrol turbo engine with cylinder deactivation technology. It is mated to a six-speed manual as standard, or the firm’s seven-speed DSG gearbox as an option.

The new £11,100 opening price marks a £330 increase over the car it replaces. However, the revised Polo range does receive more standard-fit equipment.
This includes VW’s touchscreen infotainment system – featuring a 6.5-inch colour monitor, as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity – Hill Hold control, DAB radio and the firm’s Automatic Post-Collision Braking System to improve safety.
Above the base spec S trim level sits the S A/C grade, starting from £11,820. Available with the same 106g/km CO2 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit and five-speed ’box, this model adds air conditioning to the standard car’s competitive list of features.
Upgrading to SE trim will cost you a further £615 on top of S A/C spec, but adds 15-inch ‘Lyon’ alloy wheels, chrome strips on the front bumper, electric mirrors, remote central locking and a glove box-mounted CD player. Five-door models get electric windows all round, too.
On top of the 60.1mpg 1.0 petrol, SE trim also gets the choice of a more powerful 75hp unit, as well as a 90hp 1.2-litre TSI turbo engine with the option of a seven-speed DSG automatic – returning 60.1mpg – and a 75hp 1.4-litre TDI turbodiesel returning 83.1mpg, costing £14,645.
SE Design specification is available with the same choice of power units, with prices starting from £13,535, and adds “more style”, according to VW.
A black gloss grille and door mirrors are teamed with 16-inch ‘Portago’ alloys, tinted windows, and some upholstery upgrades.
Above this sits the £16,120 SEL trim level, available with a choice of either a 90hp 1.4 TDI or a 110hp 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine. The former returns the same 83.1mpg with 88g/km CO2 as the lower-powered diesel, making both engines the most economical on offer from launch.
The updated 2014 Polo is available in three- and five-door variants on every trim level, with the extra practicality of five doors adding £630 to the purchase price.
The new-for-2014 facelifted VW Polo range goes on sale in the UK from 23 April.
