VW Scirocco GTS & VW Beetle Fender arrive in the UK

Volkswagen has announced two new limited edition models for the UK – the VW Scirocco GTS and the VW Beetle Fender – with cosmetic tweaks.

But, despite revealing the Scirocco GTS in Europe in October, it still seemed that VW had no plans to launch the Scirocco GTS in the UK. We did ask VW why, but they didn’t bother to respond. It now seems that was because they wanted the GTS for the UK despite VW’s decision not to make it in RHD.

So now we do get the Scirocco GTS in the UK, complete with big stripes, a sunroof, 18″ Thunder alloys and a choice of Candy White, Salsa Red, Deep Pearl Black and Indium Grey with the regular Scirocco R Line underpinning the spec.

You can have your Scirocco GTS with either the 175bhp 2.0 litre TDI from £27,945 or the 207bhp 2.0 litre TSI from £29,395, but at only £1500 less than the Scirocco R we don’t understand why anyone would want to.

Also arriving in the UK is the limited edition VW Beetle Fender complete with Fender’s 400w audio system, pearlescent black paint, spoiler, 18″ alloys, ‘Sunburst’ wood on the dash, climate, bi-xenons and part leather. It’ll cost you £23,015 (or £1595 extra if you want the DSG ‘box) and comes with VW’s 138bhp 2.0 litre TDI.

Both the VW Scirocco GTS and VW Beetle Fender go on sale in the UK on 2nd January 2013.
