Vauhall Adam: a “smartphone on wheels”
Mon, 27 Jan 2014Vauxhall
The Vauxhall Adam Black Edition and Adam White Edition are now on sale; the company says that the tech-packed special-edition models were inspired by smartphones.
The Adam Black Edition and Adam White Edition both come with Vauxhall’s IntelliLink infotainment and Siri voice control activation as standard. Drivers with a compatible iPhone can use the system via steering wheel controls and voice commands.
In line with the “humorous” names that Vauxhall uses for Adam paint colours, the special-edtion versions are available in ‘”ll be Black” metallic paint or “Saturday White Fever”. Brushed aluminium-effect trim is used for the door mirrors and front grille, while there are special 18-inch alloy wheels and a black or white tailgate spoiler.
Inside, Adam Black Editions have black seat fabric and piano black centre console trim, with contrasting details in white. The White Edition has the same accents, but has white seat upholstery and dashboard trim.
Both models are available with only one engine – the Adam’s existing 86bhp 1.4-litre petrol unit, which give Combined fuel economy of 51.4mpg.
At £14,995, the Adam Black Edition and White Edition models sit above the standard lineup, which has prices ranging from £11,405 to £14,150.
