Vauxhall Adam price from £11,255: Paris 2012
Thu, 27 Sep 2012The Vauxhall Adam – Vauxhall and Opel’s MINI competitor – will start from £11,255 when it goes on sale in January 2013.
And with prices announced from £11,255 it looks like the Adam may just have a fighting chance of taking a piece of the market dominated by MINI and the Fiat 500.
Of course, GM are hoping that no one who goes in to a Vauxhall showroom will go out with a basic car – a vast array of style and customisation options are the order of the day with the Adam – but the headline starting point is a decent one.
That £11,255 will buy you an entry level Adam Jam (yes, car names get dafter every day) which is the ‘Fashionable’ face of the new Adam. More money – £12,650 – gets you the entry level Adam Glam (the elegant one) and £13,150 gets entry to the ‘Sporty’ Adam Slam.
But Vauxhall will be working hard to up-sell on the Adam with, they say, a million trim and spec combinations available from a dozen colours – including ‘James Blonde’ and ‘Papa Don’t peach’ – countless wheel and interior trim options, and that’s before you start on the ‘Styling’ packs.
Under the skin of the Adam is a cut-down Corsa with a choice of three petrol engines – a 1.2 litre with 69bhp or 86bhp and a 1.4 litre with 99bhp – and a five speed manual ‘box, and Vauxhall will also add a six-speed option later on as well as introduce what will probably be the pick of the engines – a 1.0 litre 3-pot turbo.
The Vauxhall Adam is now on sale and first cars should arrive in the New Year.
