Vauxhall Adam: Prices & on sale at Paris 2012
Tue, 14 Aug 2012The new Vauxhall Adam (and its European sibling, the Opel Adam) have their debut at the Paris Motor Show when the order book opens.
We’re still not entirely convinced that the Vauxhall Adam has enough individuality to be a star in the marketplace, but it looks a decent offering nonetheless.
Its styling is distinctly generic – it looks like a mish-mash of ideas from successful competitors – but Vauxhall is promising much for the Adam with extreme levels of customisation and lots of high-end toys, even if many will be cost options.
The Adam is debuting at the Paris Motor Show in September and the order book will open up from 27th September as the Adam gets revealed in the flesh for the first time. Prices for the Adam will also be revealed.
Although there are huge combinations of trim and colours, the basic choice is between the naffly-named Jam, Glam and Slam trim levels and a choice of 1.2 and 1.4 litre petrol engines with no diesel option planned. But that makes sense; an economical petrol makes much more sense for a city car than a diesel.
The Vauxhall Adam does promise to be a success for GM in Europe, but much will depend not just on the car itself but on how Vauxhall markets and positions it ahead of first customer cars early 2013.
