Vauxhall Insignia CDTi 4×4 – the first diesel 4×4 in the Insignia range

The Vauxhall Insignia CDTi 4x4 gets launched in September

The Insignia range is proving to be a big success for Vauxhall (and Opel, for that matter) with a strong range of models from the rep-special 1.8 petrol on up to the range-topping Insignia VXR Sports Tourer. And most models can be grabbed with a wide variety of trim and engine options to suit the buyer. Unless you want a diesel 4×4. Which you can’t have. Or couldn’t, until now. There, you’re life is now complete.

Vauxhall says that 21% of all 2.0 litre petrol Insignias sold so far have been specced as 4x4s, so it’s a definite want by buyers. And with ‘Frugal on everyone’s mind at the moment it makes sense to offer up the 4x4platform with the diesel.

The Insignia 2.0 litre CDTi with the 4×4 option will deliver 160 horses, and 258lb’ft of torque from only 1750rpm which should make it feel livelier than the 9.8 seconds to 60mph would suggest. Of course the point of the diesel – apart from a decent lump of torque – is economy, so the 47.1mpg figure will probably be the figure that interests buyers most.

Vauxhall has decided to send us a press release for this bit of news on the diesel 4×4 Insignia stretching to almost 6,000 words. You wouldn’t think there was that much to say about a 4×4 Insignia. But of you want detail it’s all there.

Apart from a price for the 2.0 CDTI 4×4. Apparently we have to wait until nearer the on-sale in September.
