General Motors has been in Germany, testing the most powerful Chevrolet Camaro ever produced. On Wednesday, the company said the Camaro ZL1 posted a lap time of 7 minutes, 41.27 seconds.
The 2012 Camaro ZL1 ran around the 13-mile course a tick faster than the 2005 Porsche 911 GT3 and a tick slower than 911 Turbo S. That's impressive company for GM, and even more so for the Camaro.
The news broke in a Twitter post from GM spokesman Jason Laird on Wednesday.
GM test driver Aaron Link was the wheelman.
The 550-hp ZL1 should hit the streets at the beginning of 2012, powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine.
Here's the video so you can ride along.
