Video: Gorden Wagener on the Mercedes Aesthetics S sculpture

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

Daimler AG's design chief, Gorden Wagener, explains the details of the Aesthetics S sculpture, revealed at the recent Paris motor show, in a new video interview.

The latest addition to the ‘Aesthetics' sculpture series, which already consists of Aesthetics No. 1 (2010), Aesthetics No. 2 and Aesthetics 125 (both 2011), this latest ‘S' sculpture previews the next-generation S-Class model, which Wagener says is "arguably our most important model" and due to be unveiled next year.

"For the first time it gives the combination between a three-dimensional sculpture and an audio-visual art projection," says Wagener of the installation.

"We are previewing here our aesthetic and future design language, in this case for larger cars, you can see similarities. We have significant features such as the dropping line."
