Volteis teases Philippe Starck-designed electric car
Tue, 21 Feb 2012Electric vehicle manufacturer Volteis has released a teaser of its latest car set to debut at the Geneva motor show, designed by Philippe Starck
It has been confirmed that Starck, better known for his product and furniture design, would unveil the ‘V+ by Starck' at the show's Green Pavilion.
The teaser indicates that the V+ will retain the basic shape of Volteis' X2 and X4 models, which have a range of 60 kilometers.
Starck said, "I wanted to offer an alternative. A different answer so we can return to the minimalist definition of a vehicle. A simple vehicle. Almost a breeze. With four wheels. A steering wheel. And electricity. A vehicle there to transport. To carry people and luggages."
This is the first time that Starck has designed a car, but is no stranger to the world of transportation, having recently designed a city bike for Peugeot as part of the launch of a Bordeaux cycle scheme. Starck also designed the Motò 6.5 motorcycle for Aprilia, which was shown in New York's Modern Art Museum.
