Volvo reveals pricing for refreshed 2014 model range
Mon, 05 Aug 2013
There are quite a few changes in Volvo's lineup for the 2014 model year, perhaps representing the most serious model shakeup for the automaker this decade. For starters, almost all the cars in Volvo's current U.S. lineup have been facelifted with the notable exception of the XC90 SUV, which enters its last model year before it is replaced by an all new truck. The refreshing of the lineup comes just in time, as Volvo's offerings in the U.S. were starting to attract criticism for not being updated as frequently as other automakers' cars.
Starting with the smallest model in Volvo's U.S. lineup, the S60 has been given a stylish new front fascia, including a grille with a larger Volvo badge. The S60 now starts at $33,315 for the entry-level (at least for North America) front-wheel drive T5 model, with the T6 AWD version starting at $40,165. A new sport package for the S60 includes sport seats and paddle shifters, as well as 18-inch wheels. The range-topping T6 R-Design now starts at $43,615.

The popular XC60 has been given a nice freshening for the 2014 model year.
The XC60 crossover has been similarly refreshed with a new front fascia, and will now start at $35,765 for the 3.2-liter FWD model. The XC60 T6 AWD version will now retail for $40,165, while the range-topping XC60 R-Design weighs in at $46,715.

The XC70 has been around for a while, so it needed this refresh more than most cars in the range.
The XC70, which has been with us since 2007, has been given new front and rear fascias for the 2014 model year as well as LED daytime running lights. The XC70 now starts at $35,415 for the 3.2-liter FWD model, and at $41,865 for the T6 AWD version. On the inside the XC70 gets two fully integrated height adjustable booster seats in the rear seating area.

The S80 has been with us since 2006, and won't be replaced for another few years.
The S80, which has been with us since 2006, has been updated as well, sporting a redesigned front fascia and LED daytime running lights. New taillights have also been added, with LED bulbs incorporated into the new units. The S80 now starts at $40,815 for the 3.2-liter FWD model, with the range topping T6 AWD now starting at $44,865. The Inscription package in the S80 means you'll be getting ventilated front seats and Sovereign Hide soft leather, in addition to a few other interior touches.
The only model that continues on without a refresh for its final 2014 model year is the XC90 SUV, which had already been updated a few years ago. The XC90 now starts at $40,615 for the 3.2-liter FWD model, which is the sole powerplant. An R-Design package adds the Premier Plus trim level equipment to the XC90 and will start at $43,615, though there's still the even swankier R-Design Platinum which will set you back at least $46,315. While the departure of the brilliant 4.4-liter Yamaha V8 from the XC90 range was lamentable, we understand why it may have been a slow seller in the XC90 lineup. There's no word at this point in time regarding which engines will be available in the next-generation XC90, but we're fairly confident that the 3.2-liter unit will march on.
We're perhaps most excited about the Volvo model that's not here yet, the striking V60 wagon that's been kept from the U.S. market for the last few years for reasons not entirely understood by Volvo fans and Volvo dealers alike, given the car's popularity in other markets. The V60 will be arriving in early 2014, and we got a look at the refreshed model earlier in March when Volvo showed the R-Design model at the New York Auto Show.
