Who's Where: Richard Ferlazzo appointed GM Australia design director
Fri, 30 Aug 2013Richard Ferlazzo has been appointed General Motors Australia design director. Taking up the position from 1 September, he will report directly to executive director international operations design Michael Simcoe and also GM Holden chairman and managing director Mike Devereux.
Ferlazzo will be responsible for Advanced, Production and Global Contract programs and replaces Andrew Smith who left Holden this month to take up the position of executive director of global Cadillac and Buick design at GM's technical center in Warren, Michigan.
During his 25-year career at GM Holden, Ferlazzo has been involved in nearly every Commodore program since the VN and has been credited with leading the interior design team for the VR Commodore, leading the exterior design team for the VT Commodore and being chief designer for the VE and VF Commodore programs.
In 2005 he developed the Holden EFIJY concept car, which was displayed at that year's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and awarded the United States ‘Concept Car of the Year'.By Rufus Thompson
