LPG MIXER REPLACEMENT
BRC BLOS - the Propane Carburetor
BETTER PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY

For sale are new BRC 'BLOS' devices - propane carburetors for LPG/CNG powered cars. The best solution for open & closed loop systems and a cheap alternative to sequential injection.
These devices replace conventional LPG mixers and are an alternatve to Impco carbs.
It's also an alternative to the unavailable Airod mixers.
VAPORIZERS ALSO AVAILABLE - SCROLL DOWN FOR INFORMATION.

It's the ultimate solution for LPG-powered cars with basic propane installation, with and without lambda feedback.
Provides outstanding performance and fuel economy, comparable to that of sequential injection, while being much more reliable and easier to work with.
It does not restrict airflow and therefore does not limit power when running on gasoline.

It is often called a 'variable orifice mixer', what's the best description of the way it works. Technically, it is similar to the SU and Stromberg carburetors, but works for LPG. It delivers propane to the engine basing on actual airflow. Therefore, it delivers correct mixture in entire rpm range without the need for electronic feedback and sophisticated control systems. With this simple device, the simplest LPG installation achieves performance and economy of a sequential injection, while being much more reliable.

The BLOS is mounted in the intake tube instead of mixers. It is fed from a standard vaporizer (required is a positive type, european style one). No special valves, stepper motors, ECUs, lambda sensors, pressure etc. are needed. It requires no electronics and is very easy to set up. The tube diameter is 3,75" (70mm). It can easily be installed on engines with tubes from around 50 to 80mm using a simple rubber reduction.

The devices are universal and fit engines from around 60 to around 200HP. Two can be used on larger engines. Each device comes with a manual, that describes installation and tuning clearly.

WORKS VERY WELL ON TURBOCHARGED ENGINES!

The carbs have been patented and are manufactured by BRC Italy, a company well known on the LPG parts market. However, they are unavailable anywhere due to the fact, that such a simple device provides efficiency of complicated sequential injection systems, while being much cheaper, and does not require any professional mainenance.

Please note: a positive pressure vaporizer is required for the proper operation. Works with Airod vaporizers. Does not work properly with Impco vaporizers.

Main Advantages:
  • Performance on LPG can be the same, as on gasoline
  • Mileage improved by 10 to 20% over standard mixers
  • Correct fuel mixture in entire rpm range (also depends on vaporizer)
  • No gap on accelerating
  • Very stable idling
  • Risk of flashbacks reduced almost to none
  • Does not require any sensors nor electronics
  • Very easy to install and set up

"Very nice bit of kit"
"Nice mixer unit - yet to try but looks very good"
"TOP"

SEE HOW IT WORKS:
The piston in the orifice moves up and down, moved by the airflow. The tapered steel pipe in the orifice is the fuel feed. When the engine throttle is opened, the airflow increases and moves the piston up. More of the metering pipe gets opened and more fuel is being delivered to the engine. The engine always gets the correct amount of fuel for the current airflow without the need for ECUs, lambda feedback, stepper motors etc.

Carburetor maker Weber celebrates 90th birthday

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

Weber -- one the great names in automotive carburetion -- has just turned 90. The company was founded by Edoardo Weber in Bologna, Italy in December 1923. In 1920, Weber got his start producing kerosene conversion kits for Fiat trucks (gasoline being relatively expensive in Italy at the time).

1961 Ford Gyron concept scale model sells for $40,000

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

A scale model of the 1961 Ford Gyron concept has sold at auction for $40,000, around four times its estimate. The space-age concept car – designed by Alex Tremulis, McKinley Thompson, Syd Mead, Bill Dayton, John Najjar, and Elwood Engel – debuted in 1961 at the New York International Auto Show and featured two wheels mounted along the car's centerline, usung a gyroscope for stability. The full-size model – which relied on stabilizing wheels instead of a gyroscope – also predicted the development of satellite navigation systems, car phones and infrared sensing.

Is Chrysler still American? Yes, it is

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

Last week, we mentioned that the Secret Service was soliciting bids for a new presidential limousine. Among the criteria for a replacement for "The Beast" was the following: "This solicitation is restricted to Major Domestic U.S Automobile Manufacturers, who have their primary headquarters located in the United States of America." Well, with that came the suggestion that Chrysler -- now entirely underneath the banner of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles -- reports to somewhere far, far away from its nominal H.Q. in Auburn Hills, Mich.
