Do Traffic Lights Hold The Key To Saving Fuel?

SUPERMARKET fuel price cuts may come and go, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to achieve longer lasting savings. German car maker Audi thinks it may have the answer, as it’s developed a system that ‘talks’ to traffic lights. The goal is to save fuel by alerting drivers to when lights change so they can slow down, plus prime a car’s engine stop-start system when a change from red to green is imminent.

New York City Taxi of Tomorrow plans hit a roadblock

New York City administration's plan to replace current taxi cabs with the specially developed Nissan Taxi of Tomorrow has been stymied by a recent legal decision, the Wall Street Journal is reporting. The New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan (it's a bit confusing, but this is actually the on the level of the lowest state courts in New York state's court system) has issued a decision which determined the project to be an overreach of executive authority, siding with taxi magnate Evgeny Freidman and the Greater New York Taxi Association. GM to build Cadillac ELR in Detroit

General Motors confirmed Tuesday that it will build the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in hybrid at the same plant that builds the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera hybrids. GM said it will spend $35 million on the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant to add the Cadillac. GM North America president Mark Reuss said production of the ELR is set to begin in late 2013.
