But actually, it’s a very easy job for Mitsubishi because they seem to have hit the ground running with a car that could see the beginning of the end of the BEV electric car market. That’s because the Outlander PHEV offers the best of both worlds, with its plug-in hybrid setup offering pure EV running for up to 30 miles or so – enough to get in and out of most cities – and the ability to run on carbon fuel even when the batteries run down.

CES 2011 opens in Las Vegas

The pace of development in the world of consumer electronics – particularly touchscreens, smartphones and tablet devices – is increasingly influential on the world of automotive design. So with the world's biggest electronics trade show, the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), opening today in Las Vegas, we thought it high time for Car Design News to attend.  The 2011 show has a strong automotive flavor, more so than in any previous year. McLaren 12C Spider confirmed for July 3 reveal

McLaren Automotive officially announced on Friday that it will reveal the 12C Spider, an open-top version of the MP4-12C supercar, on July 3. There has been much speculation about an open-top version since the release of the original MP4-12C. In a video interview, McLaren Formula One driver Jenson Button extols the virtues of open-top driving.
