So Volvo – safety conscious as ever – decided to prove the point by taking the very good Volvo V40 off to the Snowdome indoor ski slope in Tamworth to see exactly what difference a set of winter tyres makes to the grip available in a regular, FWD, family Volvo. Black cab fares to rise
Mon, 24 Feb 2014BLACK cab fares in the capital are going up and could rise again as early as next January. From April 5, London taxi fares will increase by an average of 0.7%, Transport for London (TfL) announced today. TfL said the below-inflation increase was the lowest since it took responsibility for licensing taxis in 2000 and the rise equated to just 9p more on an average fare.
Go-ahead for £1bn Wales motorway
Thu, 17 Jul 2014A £1 BILLION new motorway in south Wales has been given the go-ahead by the Welsh Government. Ministers say a preferred "black route" between Junctions 23 and 29 of the M4, including a new crossing of the Usk south of Newport, will boost the economy as well as ease congestion. But opponents say improving existing roads around Newport would be cheaper as well as kinder to the environment.
