Bought from Bavarian Auto in March 2016 for, but never installed on, my 2013 BMW X5 (E70). Bought another one of these for my prior 2012 535 and - let me tell you - what a difference! Works on many BMW N55 engines. See below.

This plug and play performance tuner connects to four, easy-to-access sensors in the engine bay and works with your factory ECU (Engine Control Unit) to remap your BMW's boost, timing, and fueling for optimal performance and reduced turbo lag. Power gains on an otherwise stock car are up to 50 hp and 60 ft-lb to the wheels. Installation is very discrete, and it can be quickly removed when required, leaving no trace it was there. Does not change fuel economy during normal driving.

Power gains on the N55 motor are up to 50 horsepower and 65 torque (40hp and 55tq to the wheels).

Installation is very discrete and it quickly removes without a trace when needed. Fuel economy during normal driving is unchanged. Compatible with all driving modes.

NOTE: There are two versions of this Stage 1 tuner with slightly different harness plugs -- the proper one for your BMW depends on your existing TMAP sensor. This is harness style B. Make sure you have compatible TMAP connector. See second picture for what the compatible TMAP looks like. Full retail on this Stage 1 tuner is $379.

Mini takes to the field for London 2012

Mon, 06 Aug 2012

Although there’s no motorsport in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mini will be making an appearance during the track and field events in the Olympic stadium. A fleet of three remote-controlled, quarter-scale Mini Cooper JCWs are charged with retrieving javelins, discus, shot and hammer, and will cover around 6000 metres per day while on duty. Each ‘mini Mini’ has a potential payload of 8kg, and will be operated by specially-trained ‘Games Makers’.

The next F1: McLaren plans replacement for supercar

Wed, 01 Apr 2009

Formula One powerhouse McLaren secretly has begun work on a replacement for its legendary F1 supercar, while it also gears up to become a mainstream sports-car maker. McLaren's Technology Center in Woking, England, has built some 2,000 McLaren SLR supercars a year for Mercedes-Benz, but McLaren boss Ron Dennis reportedly has his sights set on producing 1,000 of its upcoming Ferrari F430-fighting P11s a year starting in 2011. The number, Dennis said, will rise to 4,000 cars by mid-decade as future models such as the Porsche 911-challenging P8 come on line.

2012 Hyundai Veloster stickers at $18,060

Wed, 24 Aug 2011

Hyundai has set the base price of the 2012 Veloster with six-speed manual transmission at $18,060, including destination. The three-door Veloster will also be available with six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission for $19,310. Hyundai says it means for the front-wheel-drive car to appeal to the same group of buyers as the Mini Cooper, the Volkswagen Beetle and the Scion tC.
