The only way to verify if the unit works is to plug it in and start/drive the vehicle.Guarantee begins at the end of the auction.

I have a 1987 535iS BMW that I personally tested these in and each is guaranteed not to be DOA.  You should have a certified BMW mechanic diagnose that you need this unit prior to purchase.  This unit is not to be used for diagnostic purposes.
