But Peugeot’s motorsport activities at the moment are extending a bit further than hitting Pikes Peak (and the Goodwood hillclimb) in a monstrous Peugeot 208 T16, and a 2008 to take on the Dakar Rally was revealed back in April. Then, we got to see the Peugeot 2008 DKR in all its Mad Max glory, but Peugeot were being a bit circumspect about what was underneath their Apocalypse-taming Rally Raid Monster.

Power is of course the key to the GT3 – 468bhp and 324lb/ft of torque – but the power is no good unless the GT3 can put that power down as efficiently as possible in all circumstances. Porsche assert that the GT3′s chassis is engineered for Motorsport, and key elements of the new GT3 make it even more able.

Karl-Thomas Neumann said he hoped to increase its European market share to 8% by 2022, from the current 5.8%, by focusing on small cars and using the global reach of the GM family and its technology. If successful, that would mean becoming the second best-selling brand here.
