Bmw E46 4 Door Carbon Fiber Roof Panel on 2040-parts.com
Irvine, California, United States
We created a carbon fiber roof for our team race car to make our roll cage fabrication easier while also allowing us to save weight high up. Unlike our competitors we generally have a roof in stock, but even when we don't we can make one in 3 days. Why can we do this? Because when we take your order we can literally walk to our mold and start working on your roof. We generally keep our standard design in stock ready to ship out. Our standard roof is composed of 4 layers of carbon fiber (no fiberglass fillers) with a divinycell core. We use plain weave because the tighter weave results in a stronger and stiffer part for this application. We only use structural epoxy resin which allows us to create a lighter weight part than our competitors with the same or better stiffness. We designed our roof to have greater stiffness than a BMW factory roof. Compared to the factory steel roof at 24lbs, our carbon fiber roof is 7lbs on average. These roofs are hand laid in Irvine, California via resin infusion and ship straight to you from the same place they are laid up. They come trimmed and ready to mount. Mounting should be done by a professional body shop. It will require removing the front and rear glass from your car and reinstalling. Features:

Fri, 24 Jan 2014New BMW M3 and M4 Configurator now live No customer has yet had the chance to drive the new BMW M4 (or its saloon sibling, the 2014 BMW M3) but that hasn’t stopped UK buyers clamouring to place an order. BMW UK has revealed that more than 200 UK customers have already placed and order for the new M Twins, with expectations that there will be almost 2000 sales in the first year (60/40 in favour of the M4 Coupe). But even though those first UK buyers for the M3 and M4 haven’t driven their new baby yet, they can now go online and play with the both the new M3 and M4 configurator to spec up their new toy just as they did with the dealer, but get a much better idea of what to expect.
David Brown Automotive’s new car teased – it’s a re-skinned Jaguar XKR
Mon, 10 Feb 2014David Brown’s new car teased ahead of an April reveal Just a few weeks ago we learnt that a new garden shed maker of luxury sports cars is about to bow in to the competitive market place for bespoke, high-end cars as David Brown Automotive revealed their plans for a new car. All we really learnt with that first news – apart from the fact it brought an iconic Automotive name back in to the car world (although it’s a different David Brown) – is that David Brown Automotive were planning a luxury sport car in the classic mould. Now, ahead of a public debut of ‘Project Judi’ at Monaco’s Top Marques Show in April, David Brown has revealed that their new car will basically be a Jaguar XKR with a bespoke and original interior and exterior.
Porsche buyers put the brakes on stop-start technology
Mon, 23 Jun 2008By Chris Chilton Motor Industry 23 June 2008 18:56 Direct injection and a clever new PDK dual-clutch gearbox have cemented the new 911’s reputation as the greenest performance car around, but Porsche engineers are being hampered from making the iconic sports car even cleaner by the public’s reluctance to accept further green technology Engineers at the launch of the facelifted 911 told CAR that fitting a BMW-style start-stop system could chop a further 10g/km from the Carrera’s 225g/km CO2 rating but that performance car buyers weren’t keen on having such overtly planet-conscious tech on their cars. Start-stop works by cutting the engine when the car’s stationary in traffic, and restarting automatically when you touch the pedals to move off again. Every manual transmission-equipped BMW 1-series comes with the technology, excepting the truly high performance versions.
