BMW 188 Gear Set for E70 X5 4.8i - 3.91:1

This is a 188 ball bearing (Dana style) gear set to suit the above vehicles with the mid-sized 8-bolt diff. These diffs are extremely hard to find. Finally you can buy a ring and pinion to repair these diffs. They are manufactured in Australia. Bearings, crush washer, lock plate, nut, shim etc are not included. These items are available in my 188L/LW rebuild kit which is listed in the Diff Lab store. You generally require a shim kit to install new gears and bearings. See the Diff Lab store for the 188L/LW Rebuild Kit.

Installation is not a DIY job, and I can't offer advice on DIY installation. I assemble fully blueprinted differentials on exchange with all new components. Diffs for most vehicles are in stock. Contact me for a quote on a complete diff upgrade solution.

Kia KV7 concept

Tue, 28 Dec 2010

Kia is clearly keen to grab the last of 2010's headlines by releasing this teaser render of its upcoming concept, the KV7, due to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show. The large crossover appears to preview a replacement for the Korean manufacturer's Borrego. While the exterior's clamshell tailgate, muscular wheelarches and Ford Explorer-aping lamp graphics (from this view, at least) may be directly relative to a production model, it's unlikely that the rear gullwing door openings will make the transition.

Trouble at Bertone

Mon, 25 Feb 2008

It was hoped that Bertone would be exhibiting its latest concept, the B.A.T.11, in Geneva this year, a design inspired by the B.A.T.5., B.A.T.7 and B.A.T.9 concepts developed between 1953 and 1955. The car is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. But after receiving a release from Stile Bertone announcing the prototype on February 13, the company's communications department sent through another email stating that it would not, in fact, be attending the show this year.

VIA Motors to bring electric vehicle lineup to LA Auto Show

Via Motors will be displaying its range of electric trucks at the upcoming LA Auto Show, and visitors will get the opportunity to try its VTRUX vehicle. Haven't heard of VIA Motors? It's an EV startup with a factory in Mexico that will outfit full-size GM pickups and vans with its own extended-range electric powertrain.
