EDIT: I have had several questions about this seat, so I have included 3 extra photos with side-by-side comparison to the OEM BMW seat.  The OEM is the one in the foreground.  The pattern in the vinyl is the carbon fiber facsimile.

Seat Concepts Seat for BMW F650GS

I am never satisfied with any seat that I have installed on my motorcycles over the years.  I suppose it has to do with my fat butt trying to act like I am still in my teens (now 72).  I purchased a Seat Concepts unit that comes with a cover (carbon fiber vinyl replica), good quality foam and some lightweight plastic sheeting  to be installed underneath the cover as waterproofing, and installed it according to the instructions that I found on YouTube.  The install went well, and looked smashingly great.

However, as I mentioned, my fat butt did not care for it.  I have ridden with this saddle only 1,608 miles, on it’s virgin and only trip.  For now I have gone back to the OEM saddle and am contemplating spending some BIG bucks for a premo unit.

So, here is your chance to score a new (almost) seat for a fraction of what it would cost you normally.  For your education, Seat Concepts requires you to furnish your own seat pan (costs vary, I got an Ebay special) and do the install yourself.  A heavy duty stapler is required.  I have done all of that for you, except for you to bid on this seat.

Questions? Questions?  Ask them now, as this is an AS IS sale.  My bike is a 2007 single cylinder F650GS BMW, but the seat is the same on a host of other beemers.  I will not be responsible if you “think” it may fit your bike, and find out later that it does not.  DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THIS!

Good Luck bidding, Happy Safe Riding, and, thanks for looking.

One in five suffers 'car envy'

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

DRIVERS in the UK are more likely to give way to classic or unusual cars such as a Citroen 2CV or Volkswagen Beetle, but one in five also admits they are less likely to be courteous to large 4x4s due to car envy, according to a survey. Nearly a half (47%) of UK motorists say they leave more space between their car and the one in front if the car ahead is driven by an elderly driver. Others (5%) admit to trying to slow down boy racers if they see the driver is wearing a baseball cap and is a young male.

Hyundai Suicide ‘Advert’ causes a rumpus

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

It’s not easy advertising your wares and finding the right balance between mainstream and innovative to capture attention, as Hyundai has found out to their cost with an ‘advert’ for the hydrogen powered ix35 FCEV which, rather distastefully, depicts a man trying to commit suicide by running a hose from the tailpipe to the cabin before realising he can’t achieve his aim as the FCEV’s only emissions are water. It’s a proper cock-up from Hyundai – usually so sure-footed with their PR – but, despite Hyundai US putting the blame at the door of Hyundai UK, there’s more to this suicide ‘advert’ than meets the eye. It seems the suicide video was put together by Innocean – a European Ad Agency owned by Hyundai’s Chairman Chung Mong-koo and his daughter, and responsible for much of Hyundai’s marketing output – and was a clumsy attempt to gauge reaction to the somewhat macabre take on the benefits of an FCEV.

This is Zagato's take on a modern Bavarian sports car: the BMW Zagato Coupe, based on the Z4. Handcrafted as a one-off by the famous Milanese coachbuilders, it takes pride of place at the Villa d'Este Concours in Italy. What makes the BMW Zagato Coupe so special?
