This item is an in-line connector specifically designed to join together two fiber optic cables used on the M.O.S.T fiber optic ring found in BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover & VW vehicles. The BMW part number for this connector is 61136906535. Please see the BMW parts diagram attached to this listing (part number 4 on the diagram is this item)

M.O.S.T stands for (Media Orientated Systems Transport) fiber optic ring and is used by European vehicle manufacturers to interconnect the audio/visual equipment within their vehicles. We have been advised that other vehicle manufacturers also use the standard M.O.S.T fibre optic ring system including Aston Martin, Honda, Toyota, Volvo, General Motors, Hyundai and Kia. We can see no reason why this in-line connector should not also be fully compatible with these vehicles.


 

This connector will correctly align the two ends of the fiber optic cables to ensure no data loss or corruption at the joint.

Porsche boss Mueller: A launch every year, 200,000 sales by 2018

By 2018, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller, 57, aims to boost annual global sales to more than 200,000 units, up from 97,000 in 2010. To do so, he will introduce at least one new Porsche every year. Mueller, a former executive at Volkswagen AG, replaced Michael Macht as Porsche AG CEO in October.

Daimler, Ford & Nissan Hydrogen Alliance

Daimler (Mercedes), Ford and Nissan-Renault have formed an alliance to co-develop hydrogen fuel cell technology for a range of new cars. Yesterday, we reported that Mercedes has postponed the launch of their hydrogen fuel cell B Class until 2017 and is in talks with Nissan and Ford to co-develop hydrogen fuel cell technology. Those talks have now turned in to an alliance between three of the world’s biggest car makers.
