This item is a BMW female cable connector socket / plug specifically designed to terminate two fibre optic cables (data "in" cable and data "out" cable) and plug them into an existing male fibre optic plug for audio/visual modules on a M.O.S.T fibre optic ring found in BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, VW, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Please see the BMW parts diagram included with this listing (part number 9 is the female connector socket / plug in the diagram). The fibre optic cables are fitted into this BMW female connector socket / plug by a push fit and the blue tab locks the cables in position. No special tools are required to fit the fibre optic cables into this plug socket. In fact, it looks like BMW may have found a use for a lot of the work they did on the shelved BMW CS project, which was to be BMW’s A7/CLS challenger until the project was shelved a few months ago. Current opinion is that the next generation Convertible will stick with the rag-top, but recent spy shots seem to show a pretty bulky roof camouflage, leading to speculation that BMW may go the folding tin-top roof with the next generation 6-series.
