New Subaru WRX revealed: Los Angeles Auto Show

New Subaru WRX revealed in LA The new Subaru WRX – the one that may or may not come to the UK – has been revealed today at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The WRX gets a new structure – and a four door saloon shape only – with a stiffer chassis, new electronic power steering and a new engine. The new engine in the WRX is a tweaked and fettled version of the 2.0 litre boxer engine from the Subaru Forseter, but in the WRX it gets 268bhp and 258lb/ft of torque, channelled through Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system to all four wheels, and enough to hit 60mph in 5.4 seconds The new WRX gets a choice of a manual ‘box with permanent 4WD whilst the WRX with the optional CVT box comes with a transfer clutch to move torque between axles.

Honda's Asimo robot celebrates its 10th birthday

Way back in 2000, after 14 years of research, ASIMO was born 31 October. It might have been another three years before Honda's humanoid robot was unveiled to the public, but to celebrate the landmark date ten years on, Honda has launched a website dedicated to the robot and all it has achieved over the past decade. Mercedes-Benz B-Class aerodynamics tested [w/video]

Mercedes-Benz has produced a video testing the aerodynamics of its new B-Class – which it claims is the most aerodynamically efficient car in the world – using a wind tunnel and fluorescent paint. The W245-generation B-Class has the lowest aerodynamic drag in its segment with a Cd of just 0.26, thanks to features such as serrated front wheel arch spoilers, optimized cooling airflow and a Pagoda roof to help airflow over its profile. The car's aero properties were put to the test at the MIRA vehicle test facility in the UK using fluorescent paint in 60mph winds to highlight its flow dynamics, only visible under UV lights.
