This is a landing gear actuator used on Boeing aircraft and possibly other types as well. This one was removed during tear down and has been in storage since. It is in good condition without damage to the housing or ports. The link ends are also undamaged and the data plate reads BOEING ASSEMBLY NO. 50-6835, ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - SIDE STRUT LANDING GEAR. As pictured, it measures 18 inches end to end. Unfortunately it is not tagged and I have no way to test it so listing it AS IS. Thank you for looking and please see our many other aviation auctions.

Tesla asks NHTSA to investigate fires

In response to concerns following a recent accident which appeared to result from road debris damaging the underside of a battery compartment of a Tesla Model S, causing a fire in the engine compartment, the company has announced that it has requested that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conduct a full investigation into the fire incidents. In a blog post, Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote the following about the investigation: "While we think it is highly unlikely, if something is discovered that would result in a material improvement in occupant fire safety, we will immediately apply that change to new cars and offer it as a free retrofit to all existing cars. Given that the incidence of fires in the Model S is far lower than combustion cars and that there have been no resulting injuries, this did not at first seem like a good use of NHTSA's time compared to the hundreds of gasoline fire deaths per year that warrant their attention." Tesla has also released a software update to the cars which will maintain their standard ride height at highway speeds, preventing the air suspension from lowering the car an extra inch at highway speeds for greater aerodynamic efficiency.

The Discovery was revealed on the deck of the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier alongside Virgin's SpaceShipTwo, the rocketship charged with making space tourism a commercial reality. Land Rover's SUVs will be the taxi of choice for budding, wealthy astronauts, attending Virgin's New Mexico base for training and space flights.

Go-ahead for £1bn Wales motorway

A £1 BILLION new motorway in south Wales has been given the go-ahead by the Welsh Government. Ministers say a preferred "black route" between Junctions 23 and 29 of the M4, including a new crossing of the Usk south of Newport, will boost the economy as well as ease congestion. But opponents say improving existing roads around Newport would be cheaper as well as kinder to the environment.
