If all those apply – and you already appreciate the Volvo V60 is a very good car to start with – then the V60 plug-in hybrid is a bit of a no-brainer, even with a headline price of nearly £50k (which gets within £6k of an equivalent non plug-in after the taxpayer has chipped in). Car makers are slowly waking up to the joys of the Interweb as a way to promote their wares, and they’re all busy feeding their Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and YouTube channels with new content to keep fans amused. It’s never exactly the most unbiased content so it often needs taking with a pinch of Maldon’s finest, but YouTube, in particular, gives car makers the chance to showcase their cars in action, and if they can do that and makes ‘fans’ feel a part of it, so much the better.

The C-X75 is designed to showcase Jag’s new design direction now that the modern Ian Callum-led look has been rolled out across the Jag XF, XJ and XK sports cars.But the new Jaguar C-X75 (‘C’ for concept, ‘X’ for experimental, ’75’ to mark the brand’s 75th anniversary) is also a technological statement. Jag has spotted the kudos granted to Porsche for stealing the Geneva 2010 show with the 918 Spyder – and realises that its graceful, paceful cars require a green balance.
