Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Undisguised
Sun, 03 Apr 2011The topless AMG SLS out playing in Hamburg It’s not too hard to tell we’re coming up to two major motors shows in April – the New York Motor Show and the Shanghai Motor Show. Earlier today we had the first real photos of the 2012 BMW M5, and now we get a completely undisguised Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster out playing in Hamburg. Of course, we’ve already seen the SLS Roadster without any disguise in the 2011 Super Bowl advert from Mercedes.
McLaren P13 – first OFFICIAL details and image
Wed, 11 Dec 2013McLaren P13 (pictured) first OFFICIAL details revealed It was only last month that we had official confirmation that the McLaren P13 – McLaren’s more affordable mid-engined supercar – would arrive in 2015 to take on cars like Audi’s R8 and the top end Porsche 911s. Now McLaren has gone a bit further and revealed details of the P13. The McLaren P13 – shown above in a sketch by McLaren’s design boss, Frank Stephenson – looks to take its design cues more from the MacLaren P1 than the 12C – a good thing – and will utilise the same carbon fibre MonoCell chassis as the P1 and 12C as well as a de-tuned version of the same 3.8 litre V8 turbo.
Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid at the Nurburgring – Video
Wed, 28 Apr 2010The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Nurburgring video below In February we reported that Porsche has developed the unthinkable – a hybrid 911. But this wasn’t a hybrid 911 with a bank of batteries and a fluffy-bunny conscience, but a rampant track 911 with a great big electro-magnetic flywheel and a KERS-like thump of an extra 160bhp – the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. The 911 GT3 R uses technology developed by Williams F1 and comprises of a pair of generators in the front wheels that shove energy to a composite flywheel (conveniently located next to the driver – not sure how well that would go down on a road0going version) which is the stored and can be thrown at the back wheels whenever the driver wants, in a way very similar to KERS.
