Alright, due to overwhelming demand, they're back. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, contact me before leaving feedback. Thank you!

These sticks are as removed from core batteries before being rebuilt with new cells. They are kept together as removed from a core. They are not mixed up, tested, or screened in any meaningful way. They come out of the battery pack in a set of 20 and go back into a box in a set of 20. Heat shrink color will vary from orange to yellow.

You are bidding on a box of 20 used untested OEM Honda IMA battery sticks with PTC strips. These are extremely high quality, industrial grade NiMH "D" cell batteries welded together in a 6 cell 7.2V series pack, otherwise known as a "stick". Manufactured by Panasonic throughout the 2000's for Honda hybrid vehicles, they were rated at 6.5Ah when new. These are not your regular run of the mill "D" cells. When new, they were capable of very high charge and discharge rates of 50A and 100A respectively, due to their low impedance.

Please be aware that many of the cells or sticks are going to have too high an Internal Resistance, low capacity, or other problems that will prevent them from being used in the demanding car environment. However, some do have plenty of life left and would be great for perhaps an ebike project or other low to moderate current DIY, alternative energy or other hobby uses. Or of course you may get lucky and find sticks which are good enough to rebuild your Honda Insight or Civic hybrid battery packs with.

You may get a box/core that had the proverbial one bad stick, or you may get a box that was 15 years old and is just simply worn out. It is just luck of the draw. But for this price, who cares? You could buy several boxes for cheaper than a junkyard pack, increasing your odds even further that you will find sticks of the quality you want/need.

Untested, sold AS-IS. However, cells should be within these specifications:
  • 3,000 - 6,500mAh
  • 1.5 - 6.0mΩ per cell
With a Dremel and some elbow grease, you could even cut out the exceptionally good cells and make your own very capable, very cheap battery packs. Price some NiMH D cells and see what I mean! One buyer reported 96 good cells.

Once again, these sticks have not had their heatshrink cut, and PTCs are included. If you need additional heat shrink for whatever reason, see our other auctions!

PLEASE NOTE: When experimenting with these sticks, DO NOT place them into an Insight or Civic hybrid battery case while bare. They MUST have insulating heat shrink on them when placed into the battery pack, or a fire could result.
