GM and PSA sign a global strategic alliance (2012)
Wed, 29 Feb 2012GM and PSA Peugeot Citroen this evening announced a 'long-term and broad-scale global strategic alliance' which will see the three brands co-develop cars in Europe and, in some cases, globally. Opel/Vauxhall and Peugeot Citroen will start sharing vehicle platforms and components, with the first jointly developed models expected by 2016. The focus will be on small and medium sized cars, MPVs and crossovers, but could in future stretch to include vans and commercial vehicles.
New Subaru WRX STI aiming for a new Isle of Man TT lap record
Thu, 08 May 2014The new Subaru WRX STI (pictured) is heading to the IoM Three years ago rally driver Mark Higgins went off to the Isle of Man with the last generation Subaru WRX STI and set a new record for a car round the TT course. And he’s about to attempt to beat that record in the new WRX STI. The current record round the challenging TT course is 19m 56.7 seconds – at an average speed of 115mph – a truly astonishing pace for a standard road car on a difficult and challenging road course.
Last Lexus LFA in Europe gets delivered
Tue, 26 Mar 2013The last Lexus LFA to be delivered to a European customer has now arrived with its owner in Switzerland bringing to an end the Lexus supercar adventure. It took another year for Lexus to start building the LFA at the Motomachi Plant, Aichi Prefecture and a further two years for the plant to finish building the 500 LFAs planned, with the last LFA being built in December last year. Despite the last LFA rolling out in December it’s taken until today for the last LFA bound for a European customer to be delivered, with its new owner taking delivery in Switzerland.
