Saab pulls out of Frankfurt motor show

Wed, 17 Aug 2011

It's become a cliché in the automotive press to proceed Saab with the word 'troubled' recently. Yet the company's latest announcement does little to dispel the notion that all is not well in Trollhatten, as it has announced that it will not be featuring at September's Frankfurt auto show. The Swedish car manufacturer has had trouble paying suppliers in recent months, and it is thought that Saab will instead use the money allotted to Frankfurt in order to pay them.

Tushek Renovatio T500 Supercar UK debut at Salon Prive

Thu, 16 Aug 2012

The Tushek Renovatio T500 – a supercar from a shed in Slovenia – is to get its UK debut at next month’s Salon Prive. Eastern Europe is starting to produce its own shed supercars, the latest of which is the Tushek Renovatio T500, a decent looking offering from Slovenia. Based on the K1 Attack kit car, the Renovatio T500 is the brainchild of former racing driver Aljosa Tušek with his Tushek Supercars company planning on a very limited run of just 30 Renovatio T500s over the next four years.

McLaren 12C GT Sprint fills the gap between the 12C & GT3

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

McLaren 12C GT Sprint (pictured) debuts at Goodwood FoS McLaren has revealed a track car that’s not quite as focused as the 12C GT3 or the Can Am, but a bit more focused than a regular road-going 12C – the McLaren 12C GT Sprint. Built by McLaren’s race car division, the GT Sprint gets the same 616bhp and seven-speed twin clutch gearbox as the regular 12C but with new oil and cooling systems and a new radiator at the front borrowed from the GT3 car, McLaren has had a play with the suspension on the 12C GT Sprint, lowered it by 40mm and fitted racing slicks to make the Sprint a lot firmer and sharper than its road-going sibling. Cosmetically, the GT Sprint gets a new front bumper, a bonnet that looks like it came of the 12C GT3, bigger air ducts and wing louvres and the option of lightweight bodywork and a carbon fibre rear wing to push the price up if you want to spend more.
