The redesigned 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will launch with a base price of $19,765, including shipping charges, a minimal increase over the base price of the current version. That's because the Blue Oval is preparing a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, claimed to be the smallest engine the company has ever built. Ford says this baby EcoBoost will offer output comparable to a normally aspirated 1.6-liter, four-cylinder powerplant.
