Fri, 16 Mar 2007The winners of the 2007 World Automotive Design Competition (WADC), sponsored by Autodesk, were announced at the 2007 Canadian International Auto Show in February. The competition was relaunched in 2007 with a few new twists created to meet the needs of the global automotive industry. The fifth WADC strived to provide manufacturers worldwide with a source of new automotive design talent and to encourage design students, and especially women, to choose a career in automotive design.
Manzoni, Ingenlath and Hildebrand to speak at Auto Design Prague
Tue, 26 Aug 2014The fourth annual Auto Design Prague conference will take place on 18 September at the National Technical Library in Prague-Dejvice. The event is open to professionals and the wider public, and will include a program of 10 presentations by designers including vice president of Ferrari design, Flavio Manzoni; Volvo design director Thomas Ingenlath; Jaguar's advanced design director, Julian Thompson, and Qoros head of design, Gert Hildebrand. BMW engineers admit they can't rely on sales of the pricey hybrid 7-series and X6 to justify the development costs, even though these range-topping halo hybrids were jointly developed with Daimler and GM. Senior sources have indicated that the new 2010 5-series will be the next BMW to get an ActiveHybrid model.
