General Motors partners with battery supplier LG on electric vehicles

General Motors said Thursday that it is partnering with its battery cell supplier, LG Group, to develop electric vehicles. The agreement, signed Wednesday by GM CEO Dan Akerson and LG President Juno Cho, will “help GM expand the number and types of electric vehicles it makes and sells,” the automaker said in a statement. Mercedes-Benz launches an iPad app that tours the redesigned CLS

Mercedes-Benz USA has released an iPad app for the redesigned 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS that allows users to explore the car's interior and exterior and customize a vehicle. The app was created as a tool for dealership sales associates but it's open for consumers to use. It is the first installment in a series of 2012-model-year product apps available free through the Apple Store.

Chevrolet ups the apps for MyLink infotainment system

Soon owners of new Chevrolet vehicles like the Corvette, Equinox, Impala, Malibu, Volt, and Silverado will be able to download a range of different apps directly to their vehicles through MyLink. This will be made possible by General Motors' deployment of high-speed 4G LTE connectivity through OnStar, which will allow software to be downloaded directly to the car's infotainment system. Owners will be able to select and download apps though the Chevrolet AppShop, which will be accessible through an icon on the MyLink screen.
