No, we hadn't heard of the Gothenburg motor show, either. But appropriately enough, given the Volvo sale to China's Geely, it overlaps perfectly with the 2010 Beijing auto show – and was the launchpad of the homegrown Volvo C30 Performance Car Prototype.This Volvo concept car was produced by Polestar Performance, the people behind the company's Swedish Touring Car team.

After a series of leaks and early teasers, the wraps have finally come off the new Lexus LF-LC hybrid sports car concept here in Detroit. It's a glamorous 2+2, showing how Toyota's Calty design studio in California imagines a new sports car for the brand. However, all the indications at the 2012 NAIAS show are that it's more an ideas car - and a hint of future styling trends - more than a model bound for a Lexus showroom near you.

Now Fiat and Chrysler have had time to sort out what the future holds for their joint future we are starting to see some concrete details emerging from the US. Chrysler revealed its grand five year plan this week and it seems clear that the only Chrysler brand that will see the light of day outside the US will be the Jeep. But even the Jeep is going to find itself endowed with Fiat underpinnings from 2013.
