Porsche chief Wendelin Wiedeking resigns
Thu, 23 Jul 2009Porsche chairman Wendelin Wiedeking has bowed to mounting pressure in announcing that he will step down immediately. The resignation came Thursday, following a surprise meeting of the company's supervisory board at its Weissach R&D headquarters outside of Stuttgart, Germany, on Wednesday night. Wiedeking's announcement comes after months of tense and public infighting following Porsche's failed attempt to wrest control of Volkswagen, which left it with $12.7 billion in debt, and slowing sales in key markets such as North America.
Nissan Juke-R will cost £438,000
Thu, 10 May 2012Nissan Juke-R - £438k of funky urban crossover The rather bonkers Nissan Juke R will be available worldwide – in very limited numbers – at a very limiting price – £438,000. The Nissan Juke -R has kept us in stories since lat year when Nissan first revealed the funky compact crossover with the heart of a GT-R. From being merely a one-off (well, it was actually a two-off) project to show just what Nissan could make the little Juke do, it’s grown in to a proper little PR machine for Nissan.
Market view: why the Jaguar XJ has an uphill battle
Fri, 10 Jul 2009By Glen Brooks Motor Industry 10 July 2009 16:11 It’s a sobering thought for Jaguar management that no matter how good the new 2010 XJ is, it’s never going to be a big seller. The global market for large executive saloons was in decline long before the Great Recession appeared, the buyers in this segment increasingly tempted by models as diverse as the BMW X6, Infiniti FX, Cadillac Escalade or Mercedes GL-Class crossovers and SUVs. The generation that was chauffeured in an S-class or XJ is retiring, with the owner-drivers who succeed them soon to be preferring a Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide or Audi A7.
