One Lap of the Web: made in West Germany...with pride!

-- Out of all the viral social media trends that 24-hour news agencies love to fret over, easily the best is #burnoutnomination -- where you do a burnout and tag an unwitting victim, whereupon they have to perform it in 24 hours or face copious shame and embarrassment. Porsche racer and director Jeff Zwart was recently tasked with burnout duty. Never one to shy away from The Awesome, he recorded a fantastic burnout in his Porsche 914/6.

Jaguar XKR-S (2011) at 2011 Geneva motor show

Jaguar has turned up the power and sharpened the handling on the flagship XKR coupe for the 2011 Geneva motor show. The result: the XKR-S, claimed to be the fastest production Jaguar sports car ever. For 2011, Jaguar is returning the XKR-S to the top of the XK range. CAR readers may recall the well regarded 2008 limited edition that last carried the badge.  The XKR-S has an uprated version of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 found in the standard XKR. Power moves up to 542bhp (from 510bhp), and torque swells to 501lb ft (up from 461lb ft) thanks to lots of ECU tweakage.

Jaguar F-type prototype (2013): the testing videos

As Jaguar confirmed its new F-type sports car at the 2012 New York auto show, it issued some teaser video footage of the new £55,000 roadster landing in showrooms in spring 2013. Jag ambassador and former racer Martin Brundle hitches a lift with the company's chief dynamics engineer Mike Cross for a few hot laps in the F-type prototype around its handling circuit at Gaydon. We can safely ignore the hyperbole poring forth ('It's responsive, it's a great car to drive') but it's a good chance to see the all-aluminium F-type in action.
