7th Le Mans Classic starts today
Fri, 04 Jul 2014By James Fallon Motor Shows 04 July 2014 13:43 The increasingly popular biennial vintage car event, Le Mans Classic is upon us, with the action taking place between the 4th and 6th of July at the illustrious circuit in France. The event is an opportunity for motorsport enthusiasts to see some of history’s greatest racing cars and also some great drivers. Sébastien Loeb, Emanuele Pirro, Andy Wallace and Jean Ragnotti are amongst some of the names in attendance. There are four-hundred and fifty entrants, carefully chosen by Peter Auto to give variety and represent certain historical periods in racing. Battles between old rivals – many of which are steeped in racing pedigree, will be replayed on track in this awesome spectacle. There are six different grids which divide the 650 entrants with each grid representing a particular period in racing.

Two years ago, Audi showcased a 1937 Auto Union Streamliner and a R8 V10 as part of its display, whilst last year Alfa Romeo displayed an 8C honouring the brand's centenary. This year it's Jaguar's turn to that take pride of place in front of Goodwood house.
Gales and rain hit Christmas travel
Mon, 23 Dec 2013PEOPLE WANTING to get home for Christmas face major disruption as strong gales and torrential rain threaten to cause travel chaos. Severe weather warnings are in place for much of the UK today until 9am on Christmas Eve, threatening to cause localised flooding across southern England and Wales. Strong winds are expected across much of the UK, with winds of up to 80mph in coastal areas of southern England, while Scotland is braced for sleet and snow storms and icy roads, the Met Office said.
