How to choose Brownell Boat Stands for my Powerboat?

Power boats should always have 2 or more wooden blocks or keel stands placed below the boat. The stern block or stand should be placed below the engine since this is the part with most weight. We recommend all power boats use 4 stands or more. Powerboats with larger size (>33 feet) should add 2 extra stands for support. Make sure you have read and understand the Brownell Boat Stands installation manual before use.

Stand Keel or bottom support height

There are 7 different sizes of stands for power boats with a height up to 7 feet. The most important value for calculation is the height from ground to the angel where the hull changes from vertical (side) to more horizontal (bottom). If you add this value with the wooden block support height, you will have a close number for the height of the stand. Always try to have as much variation on both sides of the value as possible since it will give a better flexibility depending on ground and keel support height. Power boats with sharp V bow construction should use the Brownell Sail Boat stand since it will give an advantage. The most common type of combination is the SB in the bow and MB in the stern.

Wiedeking to be offered $140 million to quit Porsche, report says

Fri, 17 Jul 2009

Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking could be offered a $141 million (100 million euros) payoff to quit the sports car maker to make way for a merger with Volkswagen, Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported Friday. The newspaper said Wiedeking has been visited by Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche in the past few days, who “made it clear” that the embattled CEO should step down. Wiedeking has come under fire for allowing Porsche's holding company to amass debts of more than $12.7 billion (9 billion euros) during a failed attempt to take over VW.

Lamborghini by Giugiaro uncovered

Tue, 19 Jul 2011

At a recent visit to Giugiaro, this 50 year old unnamed Lamborghini, never before seen, suddenly appeared like an undiscovered Shakespeare manuscript, discreetly displayed in a library with no-one paying attention. Parked under some Greek temple-like stairs at the Giugiaro Design headquarters, the car sat on its period Borranis, painted in a yellow hue unseen this side of Ducati. No details, no background, but the story is simple: Fabrizio Giugiaro found some of his father's old sketches from the Bertone era (1960-1965).
