This unit was installed on a Fisher Classic airplane.  When the engine died of fuel starvation, the pilot attempted an off-field landing instead of hitting the silk.  A couple of basketball sized rocks ensured that the plane was totaled (ripped off the landing gear, planted the nose, and damaged the firewall).  I purchased the airplane hoping to re-use the engine and this chute on my own project, but my eldest son and I decided to just by a Cessna 150, and my project is on hold indefinitely.

Pic 1 shows the rocket (included if you come and pick it up or arrange legal shipping, not included if I have to ship it), the unit, and documentation.
Pic 2 shows the unit un-velcroed as far as I have or will open it.
Pic 3 shows data plate.
Pic 4 shows return envelope from the chute being repacked in 2012.  Note the expiry of 10/2018.
Pic 5 shows expiry on rocket with build date 10/2012 and expiry 10/2018.
Pic 6 shows similar.
Pic 7 shows rear cockpit chute activation handle.  Note missing guard pin, which is temporarily held in place with a screw.  (Don't fly that way!)
Pic 8 shows forward cockpit activation handle, with the proper guard pin.
Pic 9 shows the ends of the activation cables where they were properly removed from the rocket (removed - not cut).
Pic 10 shows end of Kevlar bridle to attach chute to wooden structure of the aircraft.

Note shown - detailed installation drawings for a Fisher Classic Biplane.

This chute is serial number 14322.  It was manufactured 2/1999.  BRS recommends repack and service service every 6 years, and the service on 10/2012 was done shortly before first flight of the aircraft this was installed on.  The aircraft acquired some 40 hours before the incident.  No damage, rips, or tears noted.  No sun fading.  I have been reluctant to let go of the chute, but it isn't doing anyone any good sitting on my shelf.  While you *could* repack this chute yourself, BRS does so using a hydraulic press, and charges $550 for the service.  Visit their repack center http://www.brsaerospace.com/repack_center.aspx for more details and costs on this subject.

Now, as I have already mentioned, it is not legal for me to ship you the rocket (lifts the chute out of the aircraft to aid in rapid deployment).  The rocket is included in the chute price, but only for local pickup.  I can meet you in person at KMDH to give you the chute and the rocket.  You can certainly drive to Murphysboro, IL, and get it that way.  I can probably have it delivered to a reasonable distance small airport from KMDH at $1 a mile (I have that Cessna 150 jetliner!).  Otherwise, I would advise trying Youship.com, or simply abandoning the rocket here and ordering a new one from BRS.  I don't know how they ship them, but corporations can often ground ship items that individuals cannot.  The shipping that is listed on this item DOES NOT SHIP YOU THE ROCKET!

Due to the expensive nature of this chute, I would recommend that you plan a local pickup.  As long as I have a 10% refundable deposit in advance, I can take cash on pickup.  (Please pick up within 30 days.)  Deposit will be fully refunded if you do not like what you see on local arrival.  If you no-show, deposit will be kept.  Also, this chute is like an aircraft - it is sold as-is.

AGAIN - PLEASE ASSUME THAT THE ROCKET IS LOCAL PICKUP ONLY.

Filed under: “Too cool for the United States.” Caterham launched the fastest Seven in company history for its exclusive race series, the Superlight R600 Championship. The latest Seven is powered by a supercharged 2-liter Ford Duratec engine that churns out 275 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. That power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox and a Titan limited-slip differential.

Upcoming Mercedes-Benz MLC-class spied testing

Mon, 14 Jul 2014

Just a few weeks after the debut of the Mercedes-Benz MLC in concept form, prototypes have been spotted testing in Colorado earlier this month. The MLC is meant to offer packaging similar to the BMW X6, combining the SUV shape of the ML with a more coupe-like exterior design. The MLC will make its public debut at the Moscow International Motor Show in August of this year, a location that is perhaps indicative of the target audience for this upcoming crossover.
