Bugatti’s 254mph Veyron Vitesse officially world’s fastest drop-top
Thu, 11 Apr 2013The Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse has been officially confirmed as the world’s fastest open-top production car, having been clocked at 254.04mph. The milestone will be celebrated (naturally) with a limited run of special ‘World Record Edition’ Grand Sport Vitesses (which has been on sale since January 2012), with the commemorative cars sporting orange flashes to the carbonfibre bodywork, and orange wheels. Held straight after the first Shanghai auto show press day - a day topped off by the Car Design Night, attended by some 300 or so designers - this two-day event saw 27 of the world's foremost car design experts and nearly 250 delegates gather together to debate the future of Chinese car design. Session 1 - Harnessing design awareness Tony Williams, UK design director of China's biggest carmaker, SAIC, kicked off the session by explaining how trend research was finding more savvy and confident Chinese consumers who want their character reflected in the products they buy and "cars they want rather than just need".
Ferrari posts record sales despite economic uncertainty

The Italian automaker has released sales figures for the first six months of 2012, and they’re impressive by any measure. Revenues for the first half of the year are up nearly 12 percent, and net profits have risen 10 percent to over $130 million.
